An angle of our room at The Nebraska House in the Lied Transplant Center. Through the door was another small room with a TV and VCR, and a pull out couch/bed. So there were actually three sleeping areas in our room. We were on the 6th floor near the helicopter landing pad, so it was sometimes interesting to look out the windows.

My partner and I decided to make a plaster cast of my chest so I could remember how much it sucked having them. Here I am trying them on. Again. I'm bright red because I was laughing at the situation. :)

And of course my partner, Miranda, tried them on also. I had to get a picture.

This is me waiting to go into surgery. I was pretty nervous. By the time Miranda took this picture I think I'd already been given the pre-surgery drug that mellows you out. So I was just laying there thinking about what was going to happen.

Here I am about three hours after surgery. It was supposed to be an outpatient deal, but I ended up staying overnight in the hospital anyway. They had me sitting up pretty fast after surgery to get me up and out.

This is back in our room. I was starting to hurt quite a bit by then. My right side started swelling badly. It turned out that I had developed a football sized hematoma, so I had to go back in for an emergency corrective surgery where they opened the incisions up again and fixed the problem.

This is how my chest looked several days after both surgeries. The bruising got worse before it got better.

Miranda was awesome, and took good care of me...even though for the most part I was sore and crabby.

This is how my chest looks currently.

So, uh...before...

And (thank God), after.

So that was my experience. It cost in total, $7000.00. The surgery itself was $5000.00, I paid an extra $1000.00 for an actual operating room instead of a surgical suite, and the car rental and hospital hotel room took up the rest of our money, leaving the grand total at seven thousand. Despite the complications and the huge expense I would do it again as my quality of life has improved greatly. I probably won't seek any revisions either. Dr. Johnson extended the incisions behind my arms/under my armpits to avoid dog ears. The only thing that I could criticize is the fact that the nipples are not level, one is higher than the other. But to me, that's not a big deal at all. I've healed well, and I feel better and that's all that matters.

those are great results for your previous chest size especially. nipples as with most mirroring body parts are rarely completely symmetrical. i am envious of your hairy face. -=]

Thanks:) Yeah, I'm not too concerned with my nipples being perfectly symmetrical. It's not like I have one near my navel or something. ha-ha :P

Just happy it's over. I'm actually quite pleased with the results considering my previous chest size. Before surgery I had seen on Transster some work by Dr. Brownstein on a guy who was almost identical to me in chest size and body weight, and it was a terrible job. It really freaked me out about my possible results. But thankfully, all turned out well.

Looks great! Congrats. The bruising looks soooo painful; I would have been a completely crab-monster.

nipples

"The only thing that I could criticize is the fact that the nipples are not level, one is higher than the other."

I second that man...I too had surgery with perry johnson in august of 2004, I am very happy with my results but one is a bit higher than the other. Hey, question for you, how did ur nipples turned out? cause mine are flat, i have an aerola but no nipple, it seems like they stayed sunked in... so that would be 2 things actiolly that i would have to critize i guess, other than that it turned out real good. I do want to go back for revisions how ever..

Looks real good! congrats.

Re: nipples

No, my nipples seem to be okay. They're flat, but they can be identified as nipple. One is ever so slightly larger than the other too. How was his after care, in your opinion?

Looks better than one of my friend's who had it done. 2 years after and he has a bit of dog ear (right term?) that he has to go get fixed up.
